Our Story: Progress, Resilience, and a Mission to Empower the Travel Industry


The vision for Myght began well before its official founding in 2016. It was sparked in 2009 when our founder, Javier Valdez, studied abroad in Costa Rica. Enchanted by the luxury of five-star hospitality, he fell in love with the travel industry. Yet he couldn’t ignore the disparity between the polished world of tourism and the poverty-stricken communities just beyond the resort’s gates.

This experience, and others during his travels across Asia, Europe, and Latin America, inspired a question: “Why isn’t the travel industry bridging the gap between travelers and local communities?” The answer became the foundation of Myght—a platform that transforms travel into a force for good by empowering advisors, fostering connections, and uplifting communities.

Together with Michael, Myght grew into a mission-driven travel host agency, connecting responsible travel advisors with the tools, resources, and support they need to create extraordinary journeys. When the global pandemic struck, the industry faced unprecedented challenges, and we too had to pause. But this period of reflection strengthened our resolve to support the travel community more than ever.

Today, Myght is the first mission-driven travel host agency, dedicated to advancing sustainable tourism, empowering advisors, and driving economic and social impact for local communities. We provide travel advisors with the resources to thrive, ensuring that every journey creates meaningful connections and leaves a positive impact.
