Our Story

Myght was officially founded in 2016, but the vision for a travel company that transforms lives and uplifts communities began long before. The story traces back to 2009, when our founder, Javier Valdez, studied abroad in Costa Rica. Surrounded by the luxury of five-star hospitality—flawless service, plush bedding, and stunning balcony views—Javier fell in love with the travel and hospitality industry. Yet beyond the hotel’s indulgent comforts and Costa Rica’s natural beauty, he encountered a stark contrast: extreme poverty and limited economic opportunities in nearby communities. This disparity left a profound mark on him.

Over the following years, as Javier journeyed across Asia, Europe, and Latin America, he noticed a recurring theme: a striking divide between the polished world of tourism and the harsh realities faced by local communities. One question persisted: “Why isn’t the travel industry bridging the gap between travelers and the people they encounter?”

This question became the foundation for something transformative: a platform that directly connects travelers with expert responsible travel advisors. Myght was born to curate experiences that exceed travelers’ expectations while fostering meaningful connections and creating opportunities for local communities. With a focus on economic empowerment, cultural exchange, and environmental sustainability, Myght transforms travel into a force for good.
